It seems that the maps error by Apple has led to some serious consequences. Scott Forstall, who was the senior vice president for iOS software at Apple US was asked to leave and plans to depart from Apple in 2013.
Now, the issue has triggered a new fire in Australia where a place called Mildura is actually being shown on Apple Maps somewhere approximately 70km away from the actual location of Mildura.
The location as shown on Apple Maps points towards a park named Murray Sunset National Park, where there is no water supply and could temperatures could go as high as 46 degrees.
Police are concerned as this could prove fatal for someone and is a potential life threatening issue for motorists / drivers relying too much on Apple Maps given its popularity in recent times.
Several people located by police were actually stranded for up to 24 hours with no food or water available to them and have walked through some dangerous terrains to get phone reception.
A warning has been issued by Victorian Police to Apple and they are hoping for a solution shortly.
