Google is yet to release update for its web browser, Chrome so that it could support Java 7 in 64 bit environment.
Today Google release a minor update to its Chrome browser, version 23.0.1271.91 that addresses the following issues:

We are yet to hear of any updates that address the Java 7 issue on Mac OS X. Meanwhile, websites and we apps that need Java, like various banking and e-commerce websites could be accessed through other browsers such as Firefox and Safari.

Technical reason behind this incompatibility is that, Java 7 requires a 64 bit environment to function, however Chrome is a 32-bit browser, while on Chromium developer website there are news of projects for developing Chrome in 64-bit mode, these yet seem to be a far off thing, more details relating to that can be seen HERE
