New heights for iPhone 5 in China

Massive surge in demand for iPhone 5 all over China, there are over 300,000 online reservations already with mobile carrier China Unicorn.

China Unicorn, on its official microblog, said that it has received over 300,000 order requests in the first week after it began accepting online reservations. Beijing was the place from where most number of online reservations are received and the two cities that follow Beijing are, largest provinces Guangdong and Shandong, and then the city of Shanghai.

74% of the reservations is from males whereas rest if from females, well China unicorn says, often men are buying handsets to gift it to their girl friends.

Analysts expect demand for the iPhone 5 in China will likely be high, and could even outperform sales of Apple’s previous iPhone models. A slowdown in iPhone 4S shipments in the second and third quarter suggests many consumers in China are waiting for the iPhone 5.
